Knollwood - Darien, CT
Sometimes it can be hard to work with a friend – not in this case! We’ve been working with this client since we had our baby boys around the same time 4 years ago. When they moved from New York City, they hired us to tackle the interiors for the entire home. We went room by room, took breaks, had more babies, worked on more rooms and in time we finished the project (with an added bonus of watching our kids grow up together). We did some light renovations. In the living room, we updated the built-ins to a more transitional style and added a custom wet bar to the long, narrow space. The main office is her home office and needed a feminine touch. We streamlined the built-ins, toned down the original dark blue paint and added a cozy seating area for work calls and drop-in visits from kids post school. We blew out the dated desk area off the family room and turned it into a five-star homework nook for the kids including custom built-ins and a wallpaper feature wall. The interior decorate is neutral, simple and sophisticated – each space has it’s own detail to make it stand out - the abstract artwork in the dining room, the bone inlay coffee table in the living room, the custom upholstery in the office and the celestial wallpaper in the homework room. And our work is not yet done! We continue to move through this home at a thoughtful pace, stay tuned for more.
